Big Binondo Food Wok

Since it was a food walk, we were advised not to eat a lot prior to the tour. That was a great advise since even before the tour was finished, I was so stuffed already. Good thing we were walking every now and then, thus decreasing the guilt of eating a lot of those goodies.

I really enjoyed the Binondo tour. We didn’t go to the more known places to eat, but were introduced to those hole-in-the-wall great foodie places. I’m excited to go back again to Binondo and show them to my sweetie!

Anyway, here are some of picture of some of the food we tasted.

Mrs Fields Cookie Cafe

Last night I attended the Blog and Soul Launch and the Second Coming of Mrs. Fields at Mrs Fields, Manila Pavilion.  The place is actually the 2nd cookie cafe by Mrs Fields here in the country, the first one being in Trinoma (near the cinemas).  This 2nd branch is yet to officially open on September 1, so watch out for it!

Php 70 for half a dozen nibblers

Jayvee had a small talk about the Blog and Soul Movement.   It’s actually a 3-year movement which would feature blogger-centric community events just like this event and the food critic writing workshop.  These types of events would surely help make blogging a relevant part of local media. He ended his talk with this caption: “If you blog it, it will come!”

 Sugar level alert!!!

They served some pasta and mini burgers after. Mrs Fields went out of their way to give us samples of their products like their cookies, brownies, and gelato ice cream.  I must say, I was stuffed!

K. by Cunanan

I accompanied one of the couples whose wedding I’m organizing to Ayala Heights last Sunday for a taste test with K by Cunanan.  It’s a fairly new catering team but their family has actually been in the catering business for around 40 years already.

They made a mock up of the table set-up which I really liked since she didn’t make use of the typical flowers which I’m already tired of seeing.   It was a refreshing sight with all the vibrant colors of the different flowers.  These types of arrangements makes you feel that the event is special and not a commercialized one as some caterers would organize.

As we were going through the details of the event, she had us served some drinks as well as appetizer.  The food was actually good! (Soo good I forgot to take pictures of the early food served!) Quite gourmet-ish as my client would describe.  Their wedding would be a sit-down dinner since they didn’t want the hassle of people lining up to get food.

I guess most would prefer the buffet style since they feel it’s going to be more filling for the guests.  But actually, being the foodie that I am, despite having a set menu, I was actually so stuffed by the time dessert came.  We didn’t even sample anymore the other dishes included in the menu.  I’m sure my client’s guests would love the food that’ll be served at the reception and they can enjoy it without the inconvenience of standing up and falling in line.

Kaye was easy to talk to and very accommodating to my client’s requests.  She also gave some suggestions with regards to some details of the events.  You can tell that she definitely has a classy taste! After the food tasting and discussion with Kaye I was sure that my clients are in good hands.
